Happy Halloween Workshop!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! I hope everybody has a wonderful and safe Halloween.

You are looking at the hostess gift I made for Saturdays Stampin' Up! workshop a friend hosted. She loves pumpkin and coffee, so I thought a container full of Pumpkin Spiced K-Cups (for Keurig brewer) would be perfect. Basically it's a larger version of my Pumpkin Treat containers from last year you can see here, but with some elements changed and added for a more sophisticated appearance.

The home was decked out in Halloween decor and accompanied by lots of yummy nibbles.

The hostess even made little treat boxes for all the guests with the Stampin' Up! Designer Paper Pack. The little boxes hold 3 Ghirardelli chocolates. Aren't they adorable!!
I decided to make Pumpkin Spiced Muffins at 9 pm the night before the workshop. I'm crazy like that! Finished baking and making the little treat toppers around 1 am. I used Stampin' Up! Got Treats set, the Tag punches, the Square Scallop Sizzix die and Fall DSP.What do you think?

Tea Nee Weenie

Quick post then I'm back to the kitchen to make some Pumpkin Butterscotch Oatmeal cookies for a gathering this weekend in Brenham! Whoot Whoot! Oh how I love retreats and the season of pumpkin!!

Made this for a dear friend who is dealing with some health issues right now. She is loved by so many and in our thoughts and prayers.

Cosmos & Cards Part II

I have some more pictures to share from the event. We had a Grand Prize drawing that night and invited the ladies to come dressed as your favorite "Sex in the City" character. Best dressed gets a prize! I could just kick myself for not getting pictures of my outfit. It was wicked fun to dress up for this event and we enjoyed seeing the ladies all dolled up.

I am addicted to purses and tend to make them out of anything I can get my hands on. Wood, jeans, boots, shoes, shower caps, old Crown Royal flannel bags and PAPER!! Take a look at these babies! One of the many groups I participate in is an ATC group. ATC stands for Artist Trading Card. As their name indicates, ATC are collectibles, a brilliant idea born of the older sports-themed trading cards. The one rule that makes an ATC derives from their origins: the dimensions of the ATC must be 2.5"x3.5", or 64x89mm.

First, an ATC must not be sold, only exchanged, as the whole essence of these tiny works of art is about artists meeting (by correspondence or online if need be) and exchanging their works, thus meeting many artists and being exposed to several personal styles. Second, on the back of each ATC the artist writes part or all of the following information: name, contact information, title of the ATC and number (1/8, 2/8...) if it's part of an edition. By definition ATCs are made in limited numbers, often no more than one of a kind. Unique ATCs are called originals; sets of identical ATCs are called editions and are numbered; sets of ATCs that are based on one theme but that are different are called series. Don't be intimidated by the concept of small editions or originals: very few people are anal about this. What most collectors really want are cards that were made with care. Some ATC swaps have themes and some are just "anything goes".

I was quite hesitant to join because I tend to work on a larger scale. Often my cards end up being over sized for even a 6 x 6 envelope and I have to make special sized envelopes. I like challenges, so I joined AND I am so glad I did! I managed to keep one of my cards and thought I would share it with you. I was drawn to Jolee's Boutique Parcel Vintage Bird Cage 3-D stickers at one of the gathering with friends at a local scrapbook store. I purchased them and they sat around waiting for the vision to come. About a week later I knew what I wanted to do with the bird cages. I incorporated one of my favorite pictures from our wedding album in Hawaii, added music notes to resemble the lovely songs that birds sing and the title "Lovebirds" was born. Lovebirds are fierce and loyal and do not switch affection or loyalties easily, much like the mutual love and respect Mike and I have as a couple for each other. My set of 12 cards were in two different colors as seen by the pictures. What do you think about my first ATC card?? What would you change to improve it??

Kindness and a Card

First I want to thank all of my blogging friends for taking the time to leave a kind comment regarding the loss of our little Zenia. I still catch myself calling out to her at bedtime and in the morning when I would normally roll over and kiss her little head because she would always sleep right next to my head or on my chest. It's still a rude awakening when I realize she isn't there. It helps to know there are others who understand the loss of a beloved furry baby. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I have been staying extremely busy to keep my mind off of it. I have some cards to share and a baby brag book. For now I only have time to load the card. One of my favorite stamp sets for boys or men is the Alien set by Stampin' Up! called GREETINGS EARTHLING (#113810) I love using the birthday set CRAZY FOR CUPCAKES (#111618) and cutting out the little cupcakes as embellishments. I do that a lot with that stamp set. Fun, fun, fun!! I hope these sets make it to the new catalog that debuts July 1st!
